Up next that other Manchester team. If we don't get the three, a point would be nice

Just to compete for once would be a result

With Zouma and Coufal out and Aguerd playing on the wrong side that defensive line up is frightening.

If Coufal wasn't injured I'd play Kehrer at CB with one of Ogbonna or Aguerd. But that would mean playing Johnson at right back...

Might get a point, like we did against Arsenal, but not confident. It may depend on what Manu turn up as they can blow hot and cold.

A defeat won't be the end of the world at this point, as long as we give it a proper go, etc. If Moyes is going then we just need to get over the line now, which we will.

Shame Paqueta, Bowen, Coufal and Bowen didn’t get a rest against Man City, then we could have a really good go at this one.

As it is, fuck knows what will happen. Same tired players, same result. Probably another injury and all of a sudden we are looking in terrible shape for Alkmaar with a fatigued squad and patchwork team for a really important game, coming off likely four bad losses in a row.

And to think people said if we rested anyone it would be bad for confidence…

Moyes has totally fucked this up. Could have rotated vs Liverpool and Man City and we’d be no worse off- arguably better as we might have been able to actually give Palace a decent game and got something there. As it is he’s run them into the ground again and we are likely lambs to the slaughter at the weekend.

Don’t think anyone said that last bit of your post Scorch….more of a case of we’d finally played ourselves into some kind of form and that Liverpool & Palace were free hits to confirm our safety. The cowardly tactics put pay to that….but like it or not the confirmation of PL status should take priority over the cup….the fact Moyes has fucked this opportunity up is the point to be made…..

Hopeful of a point. Confident? That's another matter.

Thanks, Charley.

Yup. Was said ahead of the Liverpool game after I said we should rest a few for that.

You know Man Utd are away to Brighton tonight then have to go back up to Manchester then down again for us?

Plus they had europa same as us plus a FA cup semi that went to extra time

The tired/players needing a rest argument is weak IMO

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
I think you taken that a bit out of context then Scorch mate….as the word ‘confidence’ applies that we had an opportunity to get at them and get a result at home….Moyes ensured that confidence was knocked back a few pegs with his tactics…..but be assured PL status confirmation should be the priority over this cup…..no good winning it to be in the championship with a different squad with less quality than we already have….to be expected to perform in the Europa league & get promotion back up….

Plus ten hag rotates his players to keep them all fresh rather than using about 12 outfield players, so they haven’t all played virtually every minute of every game.

We will be far more fatigued than them. It will have an effect.

Players being tired wouldn’t be a problem if they weren’t playing fresher better rested and better prepared players week in week out- but they are. So it is.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
yeah but Man Utd have 24 hours less than us plus shit load more travelling

Rice Aguerd Soucek and Benny didnt start last night. Cresswell didnt start last sunday. Neither did Johnson or Ogbonna if they start.

The only 2 who have played reguarly lately every game is Bowen and Antonio

To be fair, I’m not sure I agree. It wasn’t you I was having the conversation with.

My point was rating players against Liverpool would pay off in the long run and give us a better chance in the palace game- you know- the far more winnable one, and also be a benefit to the Alkmaar game bigger picture.
M the players were so off the pace against palace it’s clear that resting them against Liverpool would have been the smart move. I am not usually mr hindsight but I was fairly adamant at the time and hey, not resting them has turned out to be pretty disasterous so it couldn’t have been any worse the other way. I’m just amazed an experienced top flight manager has done what he’s done in the last week in terms of our squad.

Anyway, I don’t suppose it matters too much as what’s done is done now, but we’ve squandered a great opportunity at three points to put relegation out of the question and also pit ourselves in a really awkward spot for the UEL. I’m hopeful we’ll be too good for Alkmaar, but we’ll have a fucking tired, unfit squad so we’ve dented our own chances somewhat.

You know what- I think the illness for those three was a real blessing in disguise because they’d all have had to play otherwise. But of course they’ll not be on top form but thankfully at least have had a week with no game. Hope it’s not Covid actually.

Paqueta also has had to play a fuck of a lot recently. Him and the two you mentioned have really been overworked. And unfortunately they are the match winners we have. I cannot fathom why they played most or all of that game last night when it was obviously a lost cause.

And don’t forget Oggy and Johnson wouldn’t be in the equation if Zouma and Coufal weren’t injured (likely through over use) because those two would also be flogged like horses.

You are right though, some have by hook or by crook had a little bit of respite but we will still be playing better rested and prepared players which really makes me nervous. Win the home Alkmaar game preferable comfortably and luckily a lot of shit goes away, but I think he’s put us in a really perilous position for it.

There's a poster on KUMB who reckons Paqueta, Bowen and one other weren't starting last night before the sickness... But the absent players were.

Fatigue or not. It doesn't take a genius to know risking certain player against Man City. Just wasn't worth it.

We'll lose this anyway.

That fucking fraud cunt managing our club is a fucking disgrace. He'll just want a low scoring loss here with a couple of injuries and VAR decisions against us so he can distract the media that he is a useless, boring, inept cunt.

How the fuck this imbecile keeps pulling the wool over the media's eyes is fucking beyond me.

He's an absolute odd-ball wanker that could suck the fun out of a kids party. Just fuck off Moyes.
